A tragic sequence of events has left an Oklahoma community reeling after a social media influencer was killed in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide involving her estranged husband. Sara Gilson, 43, was found dead alongside Jeremiah Duffey following a harrowing 911 call late Thursday night in Collinsville. Dispatchers reported hearing a woman screaming followed by the sound of a gunshot, shortly before a young boy called from a neighbor’s house to report that his stepfather had shot his mother.

The tragedy follows a public and volatile fallout between the couple that played out both in court and on TikTok. Just over a month ago, Gilson sought and received an emergency protective order requiring Duffey to remain one hundred yards away from her and her home. This legal action came after police notified her that Duffey had been accused of molesting a minor while coaching a youth basketball team. Investigators revealed that similar misconduct attributed to Duffey had reportedly occurred across multiple states and jurisdictions over an extended period of time.

Shortly before her death, Gilson used her platform of over thirty thousand followers to bring attention to the allegations against her husband. In a video posted on July 11, she leaned into a popular social media trend mimicking true crime documentaries, writing that she was preparing for when Netflix produced a film about her soon to be ex husband whom she described as a pedophile. While the post utilized hashtags like plot twist, Gilson made it clear through her captions that the situation was not a joke.

Police say the initial investigation into Duffey’s alleged crimes began in early June after another coach witnessed him inappropriately touching a student athlete at an elementary school event. Because the incident took place on tribal land and Duffey is a member of the Osage tribe, the case was referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for federal review. Despite these precautions and the existing protective order, the cycle of violence ended in gunfire on Thursday night.

Gilson leaves behind two children, including the son who witnessed the aftermath of the shooting. Family friends and supporters have launched an online fundraiser for the children, describing Sara as an incredible mother whose entire world revolved around providing the best possible life for her kids. Authorities continue to investigate the scene while focusing on supporting those left behind by this devastating series of events.
